Turning purpose into better performance.
Maximising social and economic impact to drive value, performance and change.
What are social impact and social value?
Social impact is the measurable effect of a specific intervention. Social value is the wider, sustained benefit an organisation creates through its strategy, culture and operations. Impact tells you what changed. Value tells you what that change means for society over time. Social value can include things like jobs created, skills developed, health improved, communities strengthened and environments protected.
In the UK, the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 requires public bodies to consider social value when commissioning services. But social value isn't just a compliance requirement, it's a strategic opportunity. Organisations that understand and maximise their social value are better placed to win contracts, attract talent, build trust and create lasting impact.
At The Good Stuff Agency, we are specialists in social impact and value. We help organisations across all sectors understand what social value means for them, measure it rigorously, and use it to drive better decisions and better outcomes.
Why social value matters
Procurement and commissioning
Social value is increasingly weighted in public sector procurement. Organisations that can evidence their social impact are better placed to win contracts and partnerships.
Stakeholder trust
Funders, commissioners, investors and communities want to know that organisations are making a positive difference. Social value evidence builds credibility and trust.
Strategic decision-making
Understanding your social value helps you make better decisions, about where to invest, what to prioritise, and how to design services and programmes for maximum impact.
Accountability and transparency
Social value measurement creates accountability, to the people you serve, the communities you work in, and the funders and commissioners who support you.
The GOOD model
Our proprietary GOOD model provides a structured framework for understanding and maximising social impact and value. It covers four interconnected dimensions that together define what it means for an organisation to be a genuine force for GOOD.
Governance
How organisations are led, governed and held accountable, ensuring that purpose is embedded at every level.
Operations
How organisations run day-to-day, from procurement and employment to environmental practice and supply chain.
Outcomes
The social, economic and environmental outcomes organisations create for people and communities.
Data
How organisations measure, evidence and communicate their impact, building the credibility to demonstrate real change.
